The beautiful Oasis of Punta Giglio is a protected area within the Park of Porto Conte just 17 km far Alghero.
It is a protected area distinguished by five different routes in which the Mediterranean maquis is the master. The paths develops between Helichryses, Myrtles and Freckles that follow one another among juniper trees and expanses of Palma Nana. The fauna is typical of the area: foxes, wild boars and numerous birds, as well as crickets that act as a “soundtrack” to the path with their strong calls.
A wonderful panorama emerges from time to time between the vegetation of rocky cliffs and lovely is the close-up view of the most famous promontory of Capo Caccia, which emerges from a dark blue sea crossed by small and medium boats.
The remains of military archaeology stand on the upper part of the path: a fort dating back to the Second World War and large barracks that housed more than sixty soldiers. During the way back, visitors can develop the characteristic bays that are located a few meters from the parking area. At the end of the promontory, you will find the Lighthouse Tower, recently renovated and housing a small museum dedicated to the writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, famous author of the Little Prince.
